Position Summary: 

The job holder is in charge of the "Surge Team" (integrated Team which represents the 8 main Airbus Plants.  Manage and lead manufacturing activities.  Objective is to achieve all Outstanding Works coming from CSALP partners and manage non-conformities detected on aircraft (NC, TLB, QLB, QSR) during FAL Process. This role will have oversight of the Surge Team which includes direct and indirect reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor the Surge Team operation.
  • Suppliers "representative" within FAL USA.
  • Insure information's feedback at Suppliers Level and FAL Level.
  • Participate in assessing the right personnel placement according to needs and the employees' qualification (present and future).
  • Make sure that Industrial Safety Regulations are strictly respected. Guide and support the employees to individual responsibility and self-control.
  • Manage budget between Suppliers and FAL Surge Team.
  • Develop plans to attract, retain and develop employees to meet industry requirements.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to develop XP-Team organization to increase flexibility and manage cost.
  • Coordinate suppliers and working party (third party) reworks.

General responsibilities:

  • Responsible to achieve all OSW and to manage NC detected on aircraft during FAL Process.
  • Set up priorities in collaboration with FAL Station Managers.
  • Insure the performing of the specified work package in compliance with costs, schedule and quality specifications.
  • Identify and eliminate problems, which occur in the manufacturing process, as quickly and as early as possible. Anticipate, wherever possible.
  • Strong interactions (functional Links) with several Central Department such as ME, MAP, Quality, Logistics, Conformity, and Design Office.
  • The Surge Team has also an Official functional link with the Mirabel Plant.

QUALIFIED EXPERIENCE /SKILLS /TRAINING: 

Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or relevant field / equivalent experience;
  • 10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering preferably in an international aviation company.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in aviation manufacturing.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural work environment.
  • Experience on AIRBUS / CSALP PLANT activities management is an asset.
  • Experience in Aviation (ACM, Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes).
  • Experience in Project / KPI Management.
  • Approved knowledge of Quality  / Logistics  rules in aviation.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural work environment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills on different levels, a structured way of working and the ability to deal with a volume of complex information. Must have significant work experience in project management and international Team Management.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens.  Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings.   Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment.  Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.  Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
  • Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
