Position Summary:

  • Set-up and start of FAL-A220 Operations.
  • Define, plan and control all activities within the work stream "Quality" of the A220 FAL-USA project.
  • Define and deploy all relevant quality processes for FAL-USA (inspection, attestation, conformity and surveillance).
  • Effectively coordinate with Mirabel Quality, Quality Single Aisle, FAL-USA Operations, Procurement, and Logistics for harmonization of processes and generation of synergies.
  • Select, train and authorize all Quality staff needed for start of production of 1st aircraft (A/C). Plan and implement a coaching and mentoring scheme for all Quality functions.
  • Review training-plans and content for all FAL positions relevant to product Quality and certification.
  • Demonstrate the compliance of FAL-USA operations to POA (Production Organization Approval) requirements to the Aviation Authorities (TCCA / FAA) in order to ensure the successful extension of the POA granted to the FAL-USA prior start of production of 1st A/C.
  • Implement and maintain the staff qualification-process and system.
  • Define and deploy a set of key-performance-indicators (KPI) and the related reporting system.
  • Serial FAL and delivery operations.
  • Guarantees the effectiveness of the A220 Quality Management System by the independent quality function within the FAL Mobile from Station LCS001 up to the customers ferry flight.
  • Verifies and certifies AC airworthiness through inspection and tests in compliance with applicable quality system and regulation and releases A/C associated documentation (PTF, AI-100, C of A).
  • Ensures quality level of all produced A/C and continuous quality improvement to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures and develops the A220 quality and safety standards in accordance with A220 policies, national and international authorities and laws.
  • Contributes to ensure timely and smooth A/C delivery with respect of FAL unit cost objectives.
  • Ensures competence and integrity of Certifying Staff and quality staff based on training, skills and qualification.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the operational budgets of the Quality function are well founded and achieved.
  • Ensures Quality Authorization management and develops and qualifies sufficient quality personnel to secure the operational business, production rate changes and authority requirements for Certifying Staff.
  • Takes all actions to keep necessary approvals (TCCA certificate 24-16, etc.) by showing evidence of the effective compliance to the Quality Management System in front of the authorities and the customers. Support the FAL major process owners in the continuous improvement of process maturity and efficiency (produce A/C and develop A/C).
  • Measures and reports quality KPIs to support continuous improvement in all areas of the business. Captures and analyzes product quality issues and manage corrective and preventive actions implementation through Quality tools (PPS, PFMEA), presents results to customers.
  • Deploy standard quality methods, tools and processes according to A220 quality policy.
  • Ensure the application of the A220 Quality Management System in all areas of the business in order to release, verify and certify the airworthiness of finished products through:
    • Inspection (structure and systems) of AC assembly and release for flight.
    • AC systems final ground tests.
    • AC engine runs and flight line final checks.
    • Configuration Management System and release of Aircraft Inspection Report, C of A, Permit to fly and Flight Certificate AI-100.
    • Operational surveillance.
  • Deliver all results of the Quality Workstream on time and on quality according to the integrated A220 FAL USA project plan
  • Deliver a fully tested A/C (Quality Gate; FTP, etc.)
  • Deliver a certified A/C (AI-100, C of A).
  • Deliver quality to customers and stakeholders expectations and satisfaction.



  • Degree in Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering preferred or equivalent experience in Production (Aerospace or other) Quality Departments.


  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Aerospace and/or equivalent environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings.   Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 55lbs/25kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
