Position Summary: The Project Manager - Tool Technology & Development is responsible for coordinating and supporting ramp-up project activities related to A320 Family aircraft assembly jigs, tools and equipment, at the Final Assembly Line (FAL) - USA in Mobile, Alabama. This position will focus on the site A320 program ramp-up to deliver the industrial system according to project requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate jigs & tools projects including multiple work packages distributed within the project team. Provide necessary reporting for jigs & tools project status.
  • Capex File Management- Responsible for managing all updates and submission of capital expenditure requests to the local and central capex team for budget authorization, per the required schedule.
  • Change Request Management - Manage project change requests. Accountable for tracking and justification of submitted and received change requests, related to the Jigs & Tools work stream.
  • Risk Management-Responsible for analyzing, tracking and responding to project risks. This includes managing the risk register, meeting regularly with work package leaders/stakeholders and reporting status within the project team.
  • Schedule Management- Track project status across the team to ensure on time delivery of portfolio projects.
  • Support as deputy to project leaders, as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to call for tender processes including creation of subcontract specifications and scope of work statements.
  • Lead special projects assigned by the manager.
  • Support other departments, as needed.
  • Provide subcontract advise & counsel to program managers, engineering personnel and other related functions, such as finance, quality and contract administration.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Project Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience managing technical projects.
  • 3+ years managing industrialization projects in a production environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, etc.)

Licensure/Certifications: Technical certifications, Preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Data analysis and presentation skills - ability to technically explain tooling/equipment issues.
  • Strong organization skills - able to oversee many ongoing topics.
  • Flexibility to quickly shift priorities, based on the needs of the site.

Communication Skills:

  • Capable of managing complex topics with many stakeholders. Strong communication and leadership skills to facilitate resolution of urgent topics.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Project management software experience, Preferred. (Microsoft Project, etc.)

Travel Required: Domestic & International

  • Capable to independently make complex technical decisions related to assigned projects.
  • Able to validate cost assessments and provide necessary justifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to observe manufacturing operations including equipment as well as individual tasks.
  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings and on the production floor and flight line. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment as well as production-related tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and power drills, etc.
  • Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 50lbs/22kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/22kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items on production and in office areas.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer, in meetings and observing production processes.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time, often on concrete floors observing production operations or delivering information.
  • Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time, at short notice.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
