Position Summary:
The MCA Aircraft Manager is responsible for the coordination of all incoming outstanding work from our European Plants and Suppliers. As MCA Manager, you will lead all OSW activities including managing the subcontracted work activity. The objective is to achieve the completion and closure of all outstanding works coming from plants and suppliers (Work Orders, Non-conformities, Concessions, Customer-Quality Logbook items.) within ST43 and in line with FAL-Station build schedule. Ensure accuracy of declared Outstanding Work to be transferred in the Quality Gate H with each plant.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Management and monitoring of the Outstanding Work Team from Quality Gate-H through to completion and attestation of all OSW declared at Section Handover.
- Ensure preparation of all OSW activities is done before Sections are due into station- this includes tracking of parts, tools and materials being shipped to FAL-Mobile
- Coordination of operations in Station 43
- Ensure timely Station 43 setup (Takt In) and teardown (Takt Out) by coordinating with Flow line and X-plant as required.
- Highlight risks of complex topics or unacceptable volume of OSW being transferred to FAL-Mobile
- Contribute to Quality Gate-H Stop and Fix decision in coordination with FAL-Mobile Aircraft Management
- Where gaps and risks are identified- escalate and resolve topics as part of the ACM Leadership Team
- Manage, lead and coordinate activities between functions and stakeholders.
- Secure Quality Gate-H for each plant
- Prepare for and lead HABIT Reviews at required levels.
- Participate in supplier audit and surveillance activities defined by procurement and Quality departments
- Airbus plants "representative" within FAL USA
- Ensure feedback established feedback loops are maintained and then improved at with Airbus Plants
- Continuously identify opportunities to develop the OSW Team organization to increase flexibility and manage cost
- Set up priorities in collaboration with FAL Station Managers
- Identify and eliminate problems, which occur in the manufacturing process, as quickly and as early as possible. Anticipate, wherever possible.
- Ensure daily reporting of OSW status within X-Plant PPC App, Tandem and Aircraft Progress
- Contribute to the success and of X-Plant and FAL-Mobile by leading by example, being proactive and productive
- Function as the L2 link to feed escalations to the OSW Team Manager and ensure that all escalations are properly documented in Tandem and all information is given for appropriate problem solving.
- Daily A/C Milestones follow up through Master production schedule and supporting internal quality gates.
- Train and mentor Aircraft Manager employees to ensure individual development under the guidance of the HO ACM team for successful and sustainable aircraft management. Support ACM team as backup for all ACM functions (Flowline, Flightline, and Cross Plant).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
- Required: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field. In lieu of degree, training as a technician in a technical field related to aviation manufacturing.
Experience:
- Required: 5 or more years of working experience in aviation related fields. 2 or more years of working experience in an Aircraft Manager role within Airbus or in a leadership role.
- Preferred: 1-3 years of working experience in a leading role.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
Required:
- Demonstrably effective communication skills including fluency in written and spoken English.
- Knowledge of the SAP system, MS office profound knowledge, supply chain and quality knowledge.
- Ability to function as an effective member of an international team including flexibility and initiative.
- Proven skills as a problem-solver and a record of meeting deadlines and completing tasks on time, on budget and at an acceptable level of quality
- Have good interpersonal skills, be able to negotiate and manage conflicts of interests
- Experience in establishing and cultivating relationships with internal and external customers
Physical Requirements:
- Vision: able to see and utilize fine work tools, computer screens; able to move through the office and from point to point to find specific co-workers and in-house experts.
- Hearing: able to hear in normal conversations and respond to warnings and signals.
- Speaking: able to participate in normal business conversations.
- Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to use work tools defined in job description with skill and acceptable results; able to operate standard office equipment and utilize electronic id to enter building.
- Carrying: able to carry up to 40 lbs./18kg. when transporting documents, printer paper and similar items.
- Lifting: able to lift up to 40lbs/18kg. on occasion.
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull equipment, tools, production carts and office chairs and pieces of equipment.
- Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a machine, on a tool bench or computer terminal while writing bulletins or participating in meetings.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to regularly squat/kneel to access items or tools stored on low shelving.
- Standing: able to stand for long periods of time in meetings and discussions.
- Travel: able to travel through office/work complex and occasionally within US for business meetings.
- Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas sometimes on uneven surfaces to obtain items for work, retrieve/replace tools and to reach meetings, visitors and direct others to meetings.
