Position Summary: Direct, supervise and coordinate operational Quality activities on the A220 Customer line, consisting of engine run, production flight test, aircraft certification, and delivery to the customer. Manage, motivate and develop the Quality team, including Lead Inspectors. Responsible for ensuring Airbus Quality Standards for the aircraft, based on the defined inspection requirements and regulations.

  • Ensure continuous improvement, notably with the application of practical problem solving;
  • Coach your team (5-10 employees) in order to develop their talent in the organization;
  • Identify, document and standardize key processes leading to the achievement of objectives;
  • Optimize the sharing of knowledge and best practices throughout the organization;
  • Lead and develop the Customer Line Quality team; Ensure the Level 3 qualification of inspection personnel is in accordance to the Airbus Qualification requirements
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are implemented and used in the Customer Line Product Quality and manufacturing organization
  • Validate that technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft are carried out to the POA standards
  • Risk mitigation of quality escapes endangering the aircraft build and/or product safety, launch of immediate corrective actions
  • Ensure that the Aircraft production flight tests, certification, and delivery to the customer are in compliance with the Quality, cost and lead-time targets of the Final Assembly Line (FAL-USA)
  • Define and implement work level processes based on the experience and recommendations from existing operations. Identify opportunities and implement adaptations for local application of ideas
  • Conduct training for optimum performance in job procedures and methods of employees
  • Represent A220 Customer Line to departments within the FAL. Interface with departments to facilitate problem resolution and process improvement
  • Conduct periodic performance evaluations; make recommendations regarding personnel actions and collaborate with the Head of Quality, A220 Customer Line in employee communications
  • Ensure that employees are in compliance with OSHA, safety and environmental regulations
  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate with the procurement function to ensure the acquisition of necessary consumable materials, tools and equipment
  • Plan and control workload of all assigned employees to ensure on-time delivery
  • Provide efficient feedback analysis and trend to management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelors' degree in Aeronautical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years' of supervisory experience in Aviation (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes, Production Methods, etc.)
  • Management experience in a manufacturing or aerospace industry is preferred (quality department is an asset);
  • Experience as a member and leader of an international team
  • Work with the principles, practices, methods and tools used in aircraft manufacturing
  • Experience working with non-conformities
  • Experience working with quality management systems

Licensure/Certifications:

  • A&P License preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in the production line.
  • Handling and use of inspection tools of the length measuring techniques (mechanical, optional, electrical).
  • Ability to work in different production management systems
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative
  • Knowledge of PPS, RCCA, SIPOC and similar process improvement techniques

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Specifically, in English which is required operating in a multicultural and multifunctional environment.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Must be able to use Google GSuite and Microsoft Office products

Travel Required:

  • Periods of periodic travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
  • Space Limitations: Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
