Position Summary: The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist II - Technical Conformance Focal will be an integral part of the Mobile Manufacturing Site's EHS Department and sustained success of the site's Occupational Health and Safety System (OHSMS). The role will support the Safety and Health Manager and will be responsible for OHSMS conformance, site medical program, prescription eyewear program, Worker Compensation program, Industrial hygiene program, and ergonomic program.
Primary Responsibilities:
OHSMS Conformance (40%)
- Health and Safety policy and procedure development
- Responsible for management of the Health and Safety conformity audit program following the PDCA cycle
- Periodic review and updates as required, policy and regulatory driven
- Document repository maintenance and oversight
- Integrated worker participation developed and executed with respect to all EHS policies and procedures
- Integrated OHSMS and Environmental Management System (EMS) training workflow oversight to ensure desired results of continuous improvement
- Strategic planning and systemic approach to manage compliance and OHSMS through policy and procedure
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate relevant data to achieve goals
Site Medical Program Management (25%)
- Manage and oversee onsite medical clinic contract, support and oversee relevant initiatives, including promotion of health and wellness
- Manage and oversee medical management, including offsite workflows, collaborate with HR teams to identify risks, opportunities, and synergies
- Manage long term injury cases, including medical management requiring interface multiple medical treatment facilities, case managers, insurance claims adjusters, and legal.
- Manage and oversee Workers Compensation Program, mange key internal and external stakeholders
- Manage and oversee prescription eyewear program, develop and provide relevant resources to workforce
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate relevant data to achieve goals
Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic Programs (25%)
- Manage and oversee strategic partners that support site goals
- Develop and maintain strategic IH and ergonomics plan, including compliance with REACH requirements
- Manage and escalate associate risk and opportunities
- Site focal for IH and ergonomics site modifications that could impact site goals, risks, or opportunities
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate relevant data to achieve goals
Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned (10%).
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in industrial and/or Environmental, Health and Safety Engineering or related fields, or certification or an equivalent amount of experience is required.
- Certifications: CSP and/or ISO14001 highly desired, OSHA 511, OSHA 30, GSP, ASP required.
Experience:
- 5+ years proven EHS experience required, experience at system level.
- Extensive knowledge of safety management systems, policy, and procedure development.
- Track record of technical understanding of industrial hygiene and ergonomics
- Working knowledge of workers compensation
- Proven ability to recognize, document, and eliminate hazards in the workplace.
- Ability to collaborate, manage, and influence stakeholders to obtain desired results.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Required:
- Ability to identity OFIs and cross-functional synergies for areas of responsibility
- Support Call for Tendor process, as appropriate, for areas of responsibility
- Understanding of risk management principles
- Experience with environmental, health, and safety data software or database
- Position requires knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety laws.
- Working knowledge of workers compensation and post incident medical management.
- Ability to understand and apply government regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to maintain and ensure the confidential nature of the position.
- Excellent Excel, Word and PowerPoint, Google Platform skills a necessity.
Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):
- Required:
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Must display excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Preferred:
- Fluency in another language (French, German, and Spanish) is highly desirable.
Travel Required:
- Some domestic or international travel maybe required annually, up to 10%.

- Determine the new standard for all H&S measures as it relates to compliance regulations and internal Airbus values.
- Directly lead the continuous improvement activities to drive H&S efficiencies throughout the site.

Job Dimensions, Contributions to Success:
- Conduct compliance and continuous improvement assessments on EHS maturity to Airbus standards and general compliance to regulatory measures. Evaluate the assessment against national standards and benchmark these against internal (within Airbus) and external markets (US competitors).
- Develop an action plan for the site to reach and continue to sustain EHS performance, as it relates to the areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for maintaining alignment and maximizing synergies with Airbus Europe and Airbus North America as it relates to applicable measures.
