Position Summary:

The AOS Lean System Engineer will define, develop and mature industrial solutions to address aircraft program challenges including delivery of an on-time and quality aircraft, reduce development and production lead time, be responsible for cost of product and process development, and all recurring costs. This position should be able to provide new processes, methods and tools that help to improve and predict our industrial performance.

The SDE will work closely with local ISE teams to collaborate on industrial projects and provide coaching on newly created processes in order to grow the Airbus ISE Community.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be a catalyst of Change/Change Agent within an international team of Lean & Industrial ISEs to change the ways of working of the Industrial Community.
  • Become a Key Driver of Airbus Industrial Strategy and empowered to lead change to influence the Factory of the Future.
  • Directly involved in Single Aisle Ramp-up, and industrial projects contributing to the design of the future Airbus industrial systems to boost our industrial performance.
  • Have the opportunity to Design the Industrial System of future Aircrafts.
  • Work in different industrial environments and travel across different Airbus production sites.

  • Contribute to Industrial System Design of Airbus Plants and Final Assembly Lines for future and existing Programs.
  • Support Key industrialization projects with Manufacturing Line Design skills and competences to ensure project outcomes are delivering tangible benefits and long term performance.
  • Evaluate and challenge current and future industrial solutions and give recommendations to Industrial Architects through our innovative digital capabilities.
  • Develop Manufacturing Line Design ways of working to answer the business priorities.
  • Increase knowledge and autonomy by coaching Industrial Communities on Industrial System Design & Modelling standards.
  • This role will involve frequent travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar discipline.
  • Masters Degree preferred.


  • 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing or Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering with strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Operational experience in the Implementation and Optimization of Industrial Systems.
  • Proven experience in Industrialization and Shop-Floor execution.
  • Solid knowledge of Industrial Performance Management.
  • Autonomy and ability to influence, lead the Change and deal with transformation processes in an international environment.
  • Experience with interpreting Discrete Event or Agent based Models or Model Based System Engineering would be a plus.
  • Negotiation level in English.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Required:

    • Excellent stakeholder management skills: listening, negotiation, conflict management, communication and intercultural skills in an international context.
    • Ability to deploy Project Management processes, methods and tools.
    • Ensure sharing of best practices within PM community (including feedback, lessons learnt); and thereby contribute to the development of a project management culture in Airbus;
    • Excellent knowledge and good work experience in project management is mandatory

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Required:
    • Ability to communicate verbally and writing.
    • Proficient in English.
    • Proficiency in French is a plus.

Travel Required:

  • 15 % Domestic and International

Decision Making, Complexity:

  • Propose and define ramp-up strategy for Mobile FAL A320 based on Mirabel's Central Program Office (CPO) targets.
  • Propose, review and decide the projects required for each ramp-up rate/milestone.
  • Review performance of Mobile Site Services in terms of Ramp-Up enabler and address deviations with relevant measures and actions at Mobile Site level; involve Mirabel sponsorship as required.
  • Ensure full coordination and buy-in on A320 FAL Mobile Ramp-Up strategy and associated projects between Mobile FAL US Site, Mirabel Canada CPO and European stakeholders as applicable.
  • In the deputizing role to the HO A320 program US, the jobholder can be requested to take decisions on aircraft delivery planning priorities and sequencing, affecting customer deliveries and associated A320 delivery plan in A320 FAL Mobile.

  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
