Position Summary:

The Quality Lineside Improver will be responsible to define and carry out Operational Surveillance within the organization. This responsible person will verify all relevant internal Quality Management procedures are followed involving assembly for FAL-USA. The successful candidate will note any deviations and work with a Multi-Functional team (MFT) to ensure that the FAL is Compliant with all Processes. If repetitive issues are found the selected candidate will carry out Practical Problem Solving (PPS) with the affected MFT. All actions assigned from an Operational Surveillance or PPS will be followed up on a daily bases by the selected individual.

Primary Responsibilities:

QMS Surveillance:

  • Ensure the Quality Management System remains compliant with internal requirements.
  • Define Surveillance of the Flowline With the Operational Surveillance QCM Owner to successfully deliver Airbus requirements
  • Review work instructions, drawings and other supporting documentation for correctness and ensuring alignment with how the job is being performed
  • Support Quality team peers to secure Quality objectives of the Airbus Quality Management System and the operational schedule.

QMS Improvement:

  • After Surveillance has been performed, a Formal debrief with the Multi-Functional Team (MFT) with have to be performed and actions assigned
  • All actions which have been debriefed will be followed up daily
  • Involve and engage in product and process surveillance activities through verification of Root Cause analysis (PPS) with Quality Conformance, Quality Lineside and operational teams.
  • Review Non Compliance data daily and look for opportunities for improvement in the frame of Cost of Non Quality reduction and potential for Surveillance opportunities.
  • Utilize experience and competencies to perform on the spot coaching or containment for non-compliance noted

Other duties as assigned:

  • Light inspections and QLS support as needed
  • Perform occasional Customer Protective Board (CPB) checks in line with NC reduction and Surveillance requirements
  • Review NC Data for Correctness and modify if needed while performing coaching to the NC originator.
  • Additional duties as assigned


Preferred: Degree in Aeronautical/Industrial Engineering


Required: Minimum 5 years, preferably with an international aviation company in Aircraft Manufacturing/ Quality/Lean Management/ Quality Inspection of entire Aircraft or Aircraft installations.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Good Knowledge of non-conformance management and Root Cause Analysis methods within Airbus.

Strong and effective Practical Problem Solving skills (demonstrable).

Understanding of Kaizen approach to Manufacturing.

Knowledge of the Production process and build cycle.

Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.

Knowledge of aircraft mechanical & electrical installation.

Familiar with the American aviation market, its Airlines and Airline Representatives.

Ability to quickly understand procedural and technical documents.

Strong communication skills through all levels of the organization and Functions.

Strong international communication skills.

Strong presentation skills

Travel Required:

10% Domestic and International

Physical Requirements:

Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions

Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.

Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.

Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
