Position Summary:

As part of the FAL Method's leadership team, the incumbent will be responsible in coordinating all activities related to technical ANDON and trouble shooting in A220 FAL until aircraft delivery to the final customer (Flowline/ Assembly and Flight line/Testing) and ensure actions are launched in order to support properly the A220 FAL Business Units plans. The incumbent will lead the MFT (Production, engineering, quality, method, site service, paint, etc.) in the technical ANDON to ensure appropriate means and plan (People, Parts, Tools, instructions, etc.) for a successful completion to meet KPI - Technical Andon TAT reduction. He/she will have a strong ability to guide the business for successful completion of the technical ANDON plans and escalation process. He/she will have good knowledge of the build process of an Aircraft in a FAL. He/she will have excellent communication skills. He/she will have excellent ability to drive Airbus Leadership Model, good attitude and work morale to his/her MFT members. He/she will coach other key people in the MFT to run technical Andon and will work closely to Method's/operations/engineering/quality leadership team. He/she will contribute to the AOS Andon brick deployment plan in close contact with the Andon brick owner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage technical ANDON's by building and executing a plan with MFT (Production, engineering, quality, method, etc.)
  • Lead the most complex technical ANDON's by building and executing a plan with MFT (Production, quality, method, engineering, etc.)
  • Select the best people to lead technical Andon
  • Coach other technical Andon leads in the A220 organization in FAL and develop their skills within the process
  • Ensuring plans are up to date and communicated to the business
  • First technical Andon meeting is established within 2 hour after requested by production management. Daily follow-up twice per day until closure of the technical Andon
  • Strong communication skills between all business functions at all levels of management
  • Guide MFT to give production team proper plan with excellent communication
  • Track internal KPI's to ensure proper burn down target. Fully accountable for the KPI Technical Andon TAT reduction and to launch actions to ensure the burn down target
  • Attend management level meetings to give proper technical knowledge and advise plan for open technical ANDON
  • Ensure technical plan is accurate and ready for production
  • Follow and report technical ANDON till Buyoff
  • Provide proper coordination to all business functions
  • Guide MFT for proper technical instruction to Backshop
  • Establish/verify the technical content of ANDON; validate in documentation
  • Motivate support functions (Engineering, Methods, WMP, and Quality) to meet mandatory guidelines
  • Highlight visibility of replacement parts, jigs and tools required for rework
  • Analyze current status and create reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • May serve as a project lead on various assignments or initiatives
  • Performs independent research and participates in the development of solutions to solve complex problems
  • Responsible for evaluating multiple options and making recommendations to management based on the most appropriate processes and methods

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, part, and tools used in support functions of aircraft assembly
  • Knowledge of the build process of an aircraft in a FAL (A220 build process knowledge in Mirabel and Mobile would be a plus).
  • Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing engineering practices
  • Knowledge about non conformities and design
  • Knowledge of supply chain management
  • Knowledge of quality management system
  • Good knowledge of basic written and spoken English
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Proactive and high energy. Performance, customer and outward mindset

Education:

  • Must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • The incumbent should have a minimum of 5+ years of aviation experience, preferably in production / Aircraft assembly and testing or manufacturing engineering of an international aviation company
  • It could be an A220 mechanic with wide experience in production, assembly and testing an A220 A/C and high capacity to coordinate an A220 MFT of different functions (Engineering, method, quality, production, etc...)

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required

  • Knowledge of Airbus Industries mechanical process & methods
  • Knowledge of Airbus IT Tools. A220 IT tools knowledge is a plus
  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP for Airbus A220
  • Familiarity with the American aviation market
  • Aircraft Technician experience from A/C manufacturer
  • Knowledge about aircraft structures, systems, electrical, and cabin installations.
  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.
  • Intercultural experience.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and practices.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. French is a plus

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves. Able to work outside hangers in changing locations. Able to work on movable lifts at the aircraft at a height of approximately 40 ft. Sometimes may work in a ventilated fuel tank with a mask in a confined space. Able to enter a with through a 9.8 by 17.7 inch oval opening.

Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
