Position Summary:

The Head of Industrial Maintenance will be responsible for providing technical support regarding aircraft assembly equipment, process efficiency and equipment safety. Provide technical assistance in the scope of preventive and predictive maintenance and other facets of reliability engineering. Develop, monitor and maintain a comprehensive set of performance metrics for 3rd party maintenance service providers.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the manufacturing operation resources, vendors, develop and establish technical specifications for equipment and mechanical systems, including: assembly jigs, ground testing equipment, transportation trollies, A/C jacking systems.
  • Develops and improves documentation including SOPs, maintenance procedures, standardized specifications, and other technical documentation to support safety and quality programs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Participates in the design, construction, and start-up of new equipment at existing and new company facilities.
  • Participates in review and development of deliverables, Scopes of Work, drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Works collaboratively with Jigs & Tools engineers and assembly technicians to troubleshoot production issues, develop maintenance procedures, asset management plans, and spare parts identification.
  • Local administrator over identifying Maintenance KPIs, MTBF, FMEA analysis systems and software.
  • Leads FMEA and RCFA reviews.
  • Identifies PM strategies, methodologies, tools, and procedures for new equipment.
  • Leads and employs root cause failure analysis techniques to improve asset OEE.
  • Adheres to guidelines set out for good housekeeping, GMPs, quality, and safety.

Qualified Experience/Skills/Training:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required; plus a minimum of 5 years of reliability, maintenance management, mechanical, or electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred but not required.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Professional Engineering certification, while not required, is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Ability to carry out precise and detailed work to provide creative solutions for industrial and commercials issues
  • Ability to chair meetings with people of multicultural and in a multilingual environment
  • Project management knowledge to improve the processes and governance of the new team of STRM
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong understanding of SAP ERP system
  • Have a good interpersonal skills, be able to negotiate and manage conflict of interest
  • Experience in establishing and cultivating relationships with internal and external customers
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical applications, electrical applications, and common industrial processes
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints and diagrams
  • Ability to lead a project from design through installation and start up, including associated operational and maintenance training
  • Team building and supervisory skills leading project teams and comfortable with supervising technical and non-technical personnel

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
  • Effective communication skills to present impact and solutions to Senior Leadership
  • Second language is preferred, French or German

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Strong knowledge of SAP Maintenance, Quintic, Google, MS office, etc)

Travel Required:

  • 20% Domestic and International travel required

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
