 Position Summary:  Responsible to manage, develop, and review the activities of the Work and Material planning organization.   Regularly evaluates and maintains personnel and equipment capacity. Oversee the activities of Ground Handling,   Shop Floor Material Presentation, and 3PL's performances. Monitor crew load charts, learning curve, non-conformity, and BOI.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management, supervision, development, and retention of staff
  • Evaluate and develop personnel through classes, in-house training, and reviews
  • Ensure necessary work is performed for production based upon information obtained in production schedules
  • Implement procedures and work instructions to support the manufacturing and quality system
  • Oversee periodic inventory and/or maintain a perpetual inventory of tools and equipment
  • Consistently apply 5S, continuous improvement activities to all processes within departments
  • Evaluate and recommend departmental staffing needs
  • Set and agree on KPI targets and report against budget. Provide input into the annual budget
  • Consult business unit management for evaluating, planning, and implementing improvements in business processes and practices
  • Utilize process improvement techniques and methods to identify and implement continuous process improvements
  • Provide technical and administrative direction related to the established Company, Material Management, and/or project policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the implementation, management, and monitoring of Material Management Work Processes to meet project requirements and schedule
  • Plan, organize, direct, and control the material management discipline for Flowline operations
  • Maintain effective business unit relationships
  • Prepare and issue relevant Process and Material Management reports
  • Ensure quality gate boards are rigorously updated daily
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 


  • Bachelor's Degree a plus, Business Management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience


  • Experience with production assembly, material, and work planning and management.
  • A minimum of 5 years leading/managing a team, preferably in a LEAN environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics work/ material or tool management.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • General knowledge of material and equipment used in the aviation industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop floor safety and OSHA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations and provide solutions. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and apply LEAN knowledge and techniques (green belt preferred)

 Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Able to enter and retrieve information using a computer (SAP, Excel, and Access advance user)

Travel Required:

  • Periods of frequent travel

 Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions, and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying sizes with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues, or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips, and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
  • Space Limitations: Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
