Position Summary:  The Business Unit Leader is responsible for technical leadership along with oversight of all manufacturing activities within the respective business of the Flowline. Plans direct and coordinates the policies and procedures for the flowline operating system and assists in evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures.  Recommends changes, when necessary, and assists in the implementation of new processes to support the Flow Line's world-class Performance Management Center.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the Operations team in the respective areas of coverage on the Flowline Stations to deliver completely equipped furnished, powered, and certified single-aisle aircraft on time, quality, and cost.

  3. Provide direction and oversight to production activities and achieve 95%+ In-station Build of the A/C for all value streams of work.
  4. Master all elements of the Performance Management Center to include
  5. Closely monitor and manage all budgetary requirements regarding consumables consumption, hand tools, and Jigs/Tooling maintenance.
  6. Addressing all needs concerning Work Orders, WIP materials management, Design and Work Process questions, and Ground Test which performs all relevant aircraft tests.
  7. Responsible for the management of all employees assigned to the Station. Includes the selection, performance management, identification of development needs, and employee recognition.
  8. Manage and direct aircraft manufacturing techniques, associated industrial processes, industrial planning, organizing around the product, and the related procedures.
  9. Responsible for the development of manpower forecast requirements based on line balancing, activity sequencing of PPCB, and identifying the necessary skill sets required to achieve 95%+ In-station Build.
  10. Responsible for the prevention and elimination of disturbances in the manufacturing process and monitoring the level of quality output from the team
  11. Manage and integrate the activities performed in the FAL
  12. Lead and coach the employees and develop their Leadership skills. Establish expectations for high levels of flexibility in their respective areas and "multiple skills" requirements for the workforce and Performance Management Centers.
  13. Actively manage the transfer from Trainers (ex-pats) to employees through succession planning, preparation, knowledge transfer validation, and training.
  14. Lead and maintain a high level of technical knowledge among the workforce regarding mobility, turn-over, and integration/development of new operators.
  15. Ensure fulfillment of legal and airworthiness requirements to ensure Operation, including demonstration of compliance for the maintenance of the POA.
  16. Contribute to enhancing the corporate image by ensuring FAL environment standards are high and continuously improved.
  17. Function as a role model and leader in the observance of OSHA rules and regulations. Ensure the importance and company commitment to safety is at the forefront of thought and action on the part of every employee.
  18. Support the Analysis for the Cost of Non-Quality data to identify the root cause and eliminate human factor quality defects that occur in the manufacturing/assembly process, as quickly and as early as possible.
  19. Proactively identify and resolve problems to prevent disagreements and encourage cooperative work relationships. Engage with support staff from Quality, Procurement, and other specialty areas to improve workflow and enhance existing processes.
  20. Collaborate with the procurement function to ensure the acquisition of necessary consumable materials as well as tools and other equipment.
  21. Coach, Train, and Lead Operations Teams in achieving the annual objectives Responsible for A/C documentation for Hand Over to next Station, accurate Quality Gate data, and FOT achievement.
  22. Manage departmental budgets/costs by AOP objective

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

 Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Aviation, Business or a relevant field is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in aviation manufacturing.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural work environment.
  • Experience leading a team of 50 or more employees in the aviation manufacturing industry is preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens.  Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions, and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings.   Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying sizes with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment.  Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.  Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues, or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift to 20lbs/9kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips, and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
