Position Summary:

Locally based in Mobile and in permanent contact with Head of Logistics & Transport (OTT) in Toulouse, France, this position will manage the Logistics Service Provider contracts for FAL Mobile ensuring overall contract compliance with established governance and contract requirements.


Primary Responsibilities:

Logistics Service Provider (LSP) contract compliance in the frame of Operations Governance

  1. Define and update all local LSP reference documents: working specifications, work instructions, logistics reference manuals
  2. Ensure the control of scope to comply with the working specifications
  3. Ensure the control of costs to comply with allocated budget
  4. Manage scope change request, ad-hoc service in line with the Governance processes
  5. Extract and monitor volumes of the activity
  6. Provide forecast for delegated budget & objectives
  7. Anticipate LSP means & infrastructure evolution for ramp-up & down-turn
  8. Manage compliance to regulatory obligations
  9. Manage compliance to health, safety and environment requirements

Manages the Continuous Improvement by ensuring the LSP implements the related projects, and by contributing to Airbus projects (and delivering associated work packages).

Ensure that the LSP implements all Airbus Logistics solutions, processes, rules & policies

Audit on a regular basis the level of services provided by the LSP: contract compliance, Airbus rules, procedures and policies

Drive issue solving with a quick & simple alert/escalation process

Solve day to day issues: validate LSP recovery plans

  1. Anticipate, understand/challenge customer's requests (LEAN - Value Stream Mapping (VSM),...), be involved in customer projects in order to propose solutions meeting the logistics standards
  2. Ensure implementation of changes by LSP, check results
  3. Propose and drive local Improvement Initiatives, share experience & practices via LSP service managers network

Ensures performance of LSP service using the contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Airbus Operating System standards:

  1. Implement, apply and monitor any agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  2. Control and Analyze KPIs (service, cost, quality), develop local KPIs if needed
  3. Drive issue solving and implement a quick & simple alert/escalation process
  4. Solve day to day issues: validate LSP recovery plans

 Provide transparency to all stakeholders, manage risk and recovery plans if necessary

  1. Ensure that the perception of performance is shared and transparent
  2. Interface and liaise with Flowline Manager on strategy & policy deployment

Keep Logistics processes in operational conditions

Manage the assets in line with the Governance asset policy

  • Assets purchased for new needs
  • Assets renewal
  • Assets maintenance and repair
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.


Additional Responsibilities:  

The jobholder will deliver:

  • Scope change requests
  • SLAs & relevant KPI's
  • Financial forecast & objectives for LSP activities
  • Action plans to comply with Regulatory obligations
  • Risk management plan with recovery plan and escalation
  • Daily Control of LSP performance & service level using Airbus Operating System (AOS) standards
  • Proposals for Logistics improvements, analysis and decisions on customer's requests to be developed by LSP
  • LSP contributions to internal AOS projects
  • Contribution to the definition of tools, method and processes to manage the LSP in collaboration with OTT
  • Customer satisfaction monitoring & action plan implementation


A Bachelor's Degree, technical degree or combination of education and experience in Business Administration or Supply Chain and Logistics is required. Master's Degree is preferred.

  • Introduction of common operation-instructions of plant processes
  • Introduction to technical drawing
  • Analyzing and improving processes in accordance with Six-Sigma-methods

A minimum of 10 years of experience in Managing Third-Party Logistics Providers.

Extensive knowledge of supply chain and physical logistics processes and detailed knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods and Information Technology (IT)-tools used.

Experience working as part of an international team and possessing strong verbal and written communication skills.

Other Desirable Skills and Qualities:

  • Knowledge of common business applications such as SAP/R3 (Module PP/PM)
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Familiarity with the Contracting Process and Management of third party providers.
  • Intercultural experience.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Knowledge of material resource planning and manufacturing engineering fundamentals is required. Knowledge of and familiarity with aviation quality processes is essential.

Strong analytical skills enabling him to identify and resolve problems and find innovative methods to apply existing procedures to create new solutions. Demonstrated ability to acquire knowledge and apply it to real-time assignments. Understanding of the necessity to establish and maintain AIRBUS standards and requirements at the A320 FAL-USA.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Travel Required:

International travel is required. Up to three international trips per year is expected.

Organizational information:

The jobholder reports to the FAL Mobile Head of Logistics. He is part of the overall Logistics & Transportation Operations Department and has a close relationship to the Logistics Managers for all FAL Mobile programs. Additionally, the jobholder will remain in permanent contact with Head of Logistics & Transport (OTT) operations in Toulouse, France. 

Physical Requirements:

Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to observe manufacturing operations including equipment as well as individual tasks.

Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings and on the production floor and flight line. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying sizes with or without amplification.

Equipment Operation Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment as well as production-related tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and power drills, etc.

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 50lbs/22kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/22kg.

Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items on production and in office areas.
