Position Summary:

Analyze and assess detailed activities and apply conclusions to plan and organize the daily sequence of events related to the tasks assigned to our Paint provider. Coordinate all tasks related to paint activities and maintain accurate KPI's relevant to performance and SLA's. Analyze and assess detailed activities and apply conclusions to plan and organize the sequence of priorities based on A220 Production needs. Report to the Head of Paint Operations with an escalation link to the Head of Site Operational Support. Determine logistical support requirements and material priorities in order to maintain schedule. Supplier Manager is directly accountable for the TCQ surveillance of paint contractor.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain performance level tracking, recovery planning activities with paint service provider and provide daily/weekly summary report to HO Paint Operations
  • Foster a Continuous Improvement mindset and lead the Service Provider through improvement planning sessions to challenge the status quo
  • Work cross-functionally FAL Quality and Customer Quality representatives to assess risk to schedule based on quality discrepancies
  • Works with Paint Provider to ensure compliance to requirements, identification of critical deviations, and validation of corrective/preventative actions
  • Ensure the consistency of work specification, paint processes, preventative maintenance plans, and building lease contracts
  • Coordinate the relationship between Airbus support functions and service providers. Collect, consolidate, review, and address any claims in case of subcontractor defects on obligations
  • Ensure Paint shop is performing according to local & Airbus Health, Safety & Environmental standards. Define, update and consolidate overall service providers performance
  • Maintain accurate cycle counts and inventory adjustments to ensure adequate stocks of ram materials
  • Initiate and Track ordering of Paint materials, markings and stencils with involved Airbus departments. Validate production processes for country specific constraints
  • Validate and print drawings per customer livery using ZAMIZ application
  • Track and coordinate all NC's, QLB's and TLB's in regards to paint while in both production and delivery phases
  • Perform a daily detailed analysis of all open points to manage priorities for FAL Milestone accomplishment (manage all open points to closure with feedback loop to FAL Operations)
  • Utilizes DMAIC methodology to develop and maintain paint quality and consistency
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action with both suppliers and internal Supplier Quality
  • Strong knowledge of Six Sigma methodology, problem solving tools, and advocates utilization throughout the organization

Other functions (Additional Duties):

    • Communicate with other FALs and home office on outcomes and issues with the outsourcing of materials different from those at other FALS and make recommendations for global adoption, if appropriate.
    • Follow all OSHA, safety and environmental regulations. Safety requirements.
    • Must be able to maintain focused effort on Safety, Team work, Quality and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Participate in process improvement, root cause analyses, 5S, and all applicable Lean tools which can be applied toward improving work load, quality, safety and reducing cycle time.Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements (Skills needed):

 

 

  • Experience coordinating required work with paint service providers.
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methods and tools used in aircraft painting Knowledge of supply chain management
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of applications such as SAP/R3
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications: Excel, PowerPoint, Word Education/Special Qualifications (schooling, certifications):

 

  • 5-8 years minimum experience functioning in a Six Sigma, quality, or supplier quality role.
  • 3 5 years of Management/project Management experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, technical field required, or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Experience with APQP and PPAP including control plans, process flow charts, Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Comprehensive understanding of Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) including Design (DFMEA) and Process (PFMEA)
  • Strong background with various supplier tools/activities including corrective actions, supplier audits, supplier score cards, and risk assessment

 

Strong knowledge and practice in statistical analysis (SPC) and mathematical modeling

Experience with paint inspection procedures and methodology

Strong understanding of Aircraft paint requirements

Develop and maintain positive supplier relations

Travel to customers and suppliers as needed (approximately 75%)

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

Self-starter with minimal supervision

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel in order to record and analyze KPI/activity.

Able to present findings and potential solutions to management.

Fluency in written and spoken English is highly preferred.

Work cross-functionally with Engineering, New Product Development, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Customer Quality Engineers to assess risk and approve suppliers for new and existing products

Works with suppliers to ensure compliance to requirements, identification of critical characteristics, and validation of corrective/preventative actions

Conduct on-site supplier assessments and lead identification of continuous improvement opportunities with supply base

Works with various quality systems: ISO 9001, AS 9100, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001

Lead/support on-going internal quality-related processes

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands (for ex. Lifting, working in heights):

Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions

Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings.   Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs/9kg.

Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.

Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
