Position Summary: A/C Configuration & Conformity manager is responsible for leading the team in addition to his tasks as A/C Conformity Manager (later A/C Certifying Staff).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensures competence and integrity of Certifying Staff and Conformity Managers based on training, skills and qualification.
  • Verifies and certifies A/C airworthiness through conformity reviews in compliance with applicable quality system and regulation and releases A/C associated documentation (AIR, PTF, Form 52/53)
  • Managing the team to assure that all A/C manufactured in FAL Mobile are compliant with the type design by
    • Reviewing and verifying the conformity of all MCA and FAL-installed CA along the build-process
    • Releasing the A/C for ground- and flight test according to the EASA privileges (form 20b)
    • Providing proof of build-to-design conformity for the entire Aircraft (form 52)
    • Providing proof of compliance with current Airworthiness Directives (AD)
    • Releasing the A/C for the Customer by signing the Export Certificate of Airworthiness (export CofA)
  • Managing an European subcontractor providing conformity & attestation support with a yearly budget volume of $250,000 by:
    • Conducting bi-weekly technical review meetings with the suppliers focal-point
    • Conducting quarterly Program Review Meetings (PRM) with the management of the supplier.
  • The Aircraft Certifying staff has the Privileges granted by EASA to approve and sign: the Permit to Fly (Form 20b), the Aircraft Statement of Conformity (Form52), the certificate of Release to service (Form53) and the Application for Export Certificate of Airworthiness (Form29).
  • Responsible to perform final review and sign the QLB.
  • Responsible to review and acceptance of TLB items and closure of TLB after EASA Form52.
  • Responsible to perform Technical Acceptance Completion (TAC).
  • Responsible to release aircraft for first/cabin flight
  • Approve PATCC
  • Authorized to approve AIR3 & subsequent AIR
  • Approves the ADCL (Airworthiness Directives Compliance List).
  • Approves work orders according to AP2145
  • Verify all documentation changes to achieve the add equation between defined definition and build status.
  • Stamp Manufacturer plate
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Aircraft technical Background with knowledge in aircraft manufacturing process
  • Technician with focus on Quality System Management
  • Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Business Administration preferred.

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience in Quality Management in an international aviation business.
  • 2 or more years in a supervisory/management role in a Quality function.
  • This experience must include a minimum of 6 A/C deliveries for the first A/C family and 3 A/C deliveries for ARS for an additional A/C family.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of principles, practices, methods, tools and materials used in the industry quality management.
  • Knowledge of industrial technical processes
  • Industry safety practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Aviation Airworthiness regulation (FAA/EASA)
  • Knowledge of Audit Systems
  • Knowledge of procedural documentation
  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft-design and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of ERP applications such as SAP/R3 (Module QM/PP/MM)
  • Knowledge of Airbus process, methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of Airbus IT Tools (CAIR, Zamiz, TAKSY, MODA, DocMaster)

 

Communication Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Training:

  • Successful completion of the following training offered by Airbus:
    • Successful completion of the Aircraft Certifying staff exam. And assignment of quadrangular Stamp.
    • Managing and writing procedural documentation
    • Aircraft configuration management
    • Aeronautical regulations (EASA, JAR 21)
    • Airbus Quality Auditor training
    • Problem solving methods (PPS, Kepner Tregoe, Significant Event & CHI)
    • Process management for Quality Managers
    • Lean Management
    • SPC
    • Office IT tools (MS Windows, MS Office, SAP R/3)

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
