Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Head of Back Shop and Pre-Assembly, the Production Back Shop Planner  is responsible for the coordination of all Back Shop materials required for their respective A220 assembly position's activities. The Production Back Shop Planner will also problem-solve and escalate any issues related to part shortages and pre-assembly/raw material parts production.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan material requirements at work station, 10-day look ahead, coordination with Work and Material Planning department for delivery of parts per the build planning
  • Interface with Mirabel Procurement Operations for shortage resolution via a Supply Officer
  • Coordinate materials required for rescheduling in case of planned shortages (Contingency Plan)
  • Mitigation solution for over-issues : remove from stock , specific request to Work and Material Planners, cannibalize, input requirement for new part, rework etc...
  • General Coordination with Production and on-site work as required
  • Coordinate timely delivery of fabricated parts per Production build planning
  • Coordinate with Operational Procurement on return flow
  • Support departmental adherence to KPIs related to Health & Safety, Quality and Productivity;
  • Participate in daily team meetings to address issues impacting Operations
  • Support implementation of procedures and work instructions to support the manufacturing and quality system;
  • Actively identify opportunities and support / participate in continuous improvement initiatives, workflow consolidation and inventory management, including 5S;
  • Support effective communication between Business Units;
  • Prepare and issue relevant management reports and ensure visual management tools are maintained;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

 Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in any Material Management, Aerospace or Operations Management-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience:

  • Experience with production assembly, production control or planning, and supply management.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in production control work/ material or tool management.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • General knowledge of material and equipment used in the aviation industry;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop floor safety and OSHA regulations;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations and provide solutions;
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and apply LEAN knowledge and techniques;
  • Ability to enter and retrieve information using a computer (SAP, Excel and Access advanced user);
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens.  Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.  Must be able to read wire numbers, and differentiate colors
  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings.   Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment.  Working on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.  Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
  • Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time on short notice.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
  • Working/Space: Able to work outside hangers in changing locations. Able to work on movable lifts at the aircraft at a height of approximately 15ft.
