Position Summary: (Describe the accountabilities of this position in no more than 2 paragraphs)

The Airbus Operating System (AOS) Improver Internship will assist and support Airbus FAL USA by deploying ways of working within operational teams and line back support functions.


With a proven "Can Do" attitude, the jobholder will address systemic operational performance issues with piloted, standardized and sustainable solutions through the Airbus Operating System.


Essential Functions:

  • Function as a champion for change in the FAL in multiple ways: supporting the AOS improver in effective application of lean techniques to operational employees.
  • Support the AOS Improvers in FAL Lean initiatives that are focused on the development of a sustainable Lean culture consistent with the Airbus Operating System.
  • Implement and document methods, tools, processes and standards relevant to the AOS/Lean deployment in the FAL Standard Line Balancing, SQCDP, PPS (Practical Problem solving), Process Confirmation, Performance Dialogue, Kaizen, 5S Improvement activities, waste analysis and value stream mapping. etc.
  • Deploy 5S workplace organization with the support of an AOS improver.
  • Act as an advocate for lean mindsets and behaviors to lead to a successful and sustainable AOS/Lean culture..
  • Collect and analyze data to support the preparation of business cases for change, improvement and optimization projects.
  • Contribute to key projects with Lean/AOS skills & competences as defined by AOS Continuous improvement leader.
  • Engage with the value adding workforce as individuals and groups to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the AOS Improver in AOS industrial maturity and ensure brick deployment meets the desired standard.
  • Support the AOS Improver in the facilitation and organization of Kaizen workshops.
  • Support the AOS Improver to grow the knowledge and autonomy of value adders workers by supporting the implementation of AOS/Lean standards and continuous improvement solutions in manufacturing areas.
  • Create digital KPI's (Key performance indicators) using our "sky wise platform"
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements (Skills needed):

Knowledge of Basic manufacturing processes.

Demonstrate the ability to work within Microsoft Office

Ability to carry out coding in MySQL, Java, Python and Visual Basic.

Knowledge of creating training material using  instructional design desirable.

Demonstrated effective communication skills.

Demonstrable ability to structure tasks while dealing with a high volume of complex information and specific deadlines.

Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills including influencing skills.

Candidate Must be available to work 30+ hours a week.


Education/Special Qualifications (schooling, certifications):

A Bachelor or Master degree in Business Administration, Organizational Design or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

Equipment Operation Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment.

Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 30lbs/14kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.

Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.

Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time. Working outside hangers in changing locations.

Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
