 Position Summary:

  • Responsible to manage non-conformities/concessions and late changes to support production and to update the master data for the documentation package that accompanies the aircraft.  Responds to technical questions, prepares new modifications for country specific constraints and explains about work orders and drawings, especially for aircraft (A/C) mechanical related items. Establishes and maintains effective communications with FAL production. Responsible for on-site training of new manufacturing engineering employees. 

Essential Functions:

    • Manage and coordinate outstanding work assignments.
    • Create specific work orders for FAL rework.
    • Handle non conformities within assigned area.
    • Establish/verify the technical content of non-conformities; validate in documentation.
    • Track MAP* answers/update (design) on any and all structural issues.
    • Provide technical support to production on structural issues including oversight of directed changes.
    • Initiate availability of replacement parts, jigs and tools required for rework.
    • Manage continuous improvement measures with reoccurring non conformities/concessions in cooperation with quality.
    • Maintain current knowledge on country specific requirements and validate production processes for identified country specific constraints.
    • Analyze current status and create reports.
    • Exchange information and regularly inform the manufacturing engineering back office about all notified changes in production.
    • Participate as an active team member including providing orientation support to new colleagues and trainees.

    • Perform other duties as assigned
    • Initial training depends on the qualification level and will be up to 18 months. During this training the incumbent will also be responsible for the adaptation and creation of work orders and corresponding supplemental instructions (SOI).
    • Responsible to incorporate implicit knowledge into these instructions and refine them in terms of language, level of detail and regulation assignment.
    • Responsible to establish and maintain effective communication with the current Single Aisle Final Assembly Lines (SA FALs).

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

The incumbent should have 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in manufacturing engineering of structure installations in an international aviation company.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in manufacturing engineering.
  • Knowledge about non conformities/concessions and design query notes.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of quality management system.
  • Good knowledge of basic written and spoken English.

 Education/Special Qualifications:

  • Must have a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other desirable skills and experience include:

  • Knowledge of Airbus Industries mechanical process & methods.
  • Knowledge of Airbus IT-Tools (TiCon, Zamiz, TAKSY, MODA, DocMaster, Adress).
  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP/R3 (Module PP/PM).
  • Familiarity with the American aviation market.
  • Aircraft Technician experience from A/C manufacturer.
  • Knowledge about aircraft structure installation.
  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.
  • Intercultural experience.
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and practices.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Vision: able to see and utilize fine work tools, computer screens; able to move through office and from point to point to find specific co-workers and in-house experts.
  • Hearing: able to hear in normal conversations and respond to warnings, signals and alarms
  • Speaking: able to participate in normal business conversations.
  • Equipment Operation: able to operate standard office equipment and utilize electronic id to enter building
  • Carrying: able to carry up to 40 lbs. /18kg. when transporting documents, printer paper and similar items.
  • Lifting: able to lift up to 40lbs/18kg. On occasion.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull equipment, tools, production carts and office chairs and pieces of equipment
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to regularly squat/kneel to access items or tools stored on low shelving
  • standing: able to stand for long periods of time in meetings and discussions
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a machine, on a tool bench or a computer terminal while writing bulletins or participating in meetings.
  • Travel: able to travel in the US and internationally for business.
