Position Summary:

  • Responsible for negotiating aircraft delivery transactions with the customer at any level of seniority to ensure "On Time On Quality" deliveries at minimum cost and risk for Airbus while maintaining Customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for mitigating the commercial/financial risks associated with all Customer requests or any aspect of aircraft non-compliance to contractual commitments and minimizing exposure on existing fleet or future deliveries.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Appraise the commercial/contractual impact of all aspects of non-compliance through manufacturing to ferry flight. Devise financial settlements for a complex mix of unresolved issues (engineering, manufacturing, supplier, support, contractual, etc.).
  • Prepare and negotiate the Commitment Letter (CL) prior to the Transfer of Title (ToT). Manage and coordinate all internal and external inputs, escalate problems to Management level if necessary, for decision-making.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Airbus delivery targets by proposing innovative commercial solutions to resolve any combination of outstanding Customer issues, whatever their causes.
  • Provide feedback experience of commercial and contractual issues to ensure continuous improvement in all functions to minimize Airbus exposure.
  • Develop strong business/personal relationships with the airlines representatives community based in Mobile, together with the full Airline delivery team at their own base and in Mobile.
  • Represent as appropriate the commercial directorate in all internal and/or external meetings relating to current or future aircraft specification (with Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Customisation, Airworthiness, Quality, etc.)
  • Represent Airbus in front of a worldwide multi-cultural customer community in order to contribute directly to the achievement of Customer satisfaction targets.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:  


  • Degree (Master/Bachelor) in aerospace engineering or similar


  • 5-10 years of experience in Aviation or Aerospace
  • Negotiation experience is an asset
  • Previous experience in customer facing environment

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Global technical knowledge of the aircraft, mainly but not limited to Airbus A320 family
  • Good knowledge of the Airbus organization and processes (Engineering, Programme, Customer Support)
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative
  • Able to work in international team
  • Able to keep good relationships with customers

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in English, and ideally in a second language (i.e. French, Spanish, German...) 

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
  • Able to work outside hangers in changing locations. Able to work on movable lifts at the aircraft at a height of approximately 40 ft. Sometimes working in a ventilated fuel tank with a mask in a confined space. Able to enter a wing through a 9.8 inch by 17.7 inch oval opening.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
  • Climbing: Able to climb aircraft stairs and access various aircraft areas (eg cargo compartment with reduced height)
