Position Summary:  Reporting to the Supervisor, Work Material Planning (WMP), the Work Planner is responsible to plan, and ensure the completion of, the day-to-day activities of their respective A220 assembly work station. The Work Planner is part of an MFT in situ at the station.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Detailed crew loading plan (in coordination with Methods)
  • Ensure hours completion as per crew loading plan
  • Prepare the outstanding work (release) report before A/C moves to the next position
  • Analyze incoming outstanding work (release) from previous workstation and plan resources, workbook completion and daily assembly work
  • Participate and support FOT completion, contributing to 'green' status
  • Prepare FOT documentation for Quality Gate
  • Manage Progression Board
  • Follow up on position adherence to Learning Curve progression
  • Man-power efficiency analysis, monitor man-hours per position and over-time
  • Support departmental adherence to KPIs related to Health & Safety, Quality and Productivity;
  • Coordinate daily team meetings to address issues impacting Operations
  • Implement procedures and work instructions to support the manufacturing and quality system;
  • Actively identify opportunities and support / participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S;
  • Support effective communication between Business Units;
  • Prepare and issue relevant management reports and ensure visual management tools are maintained;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

 Education:

  • Diploma in any Aerospace, Manufacturing or Operations Management-related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Experience with production assembly, material and work planning, and technical planning.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing work/ material or tool management.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • General knowledge of material and equipment used in the aviation industry;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop floor safety and OSHA regulations;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations and provide solutions;
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and apply LEAN knowledge and techniques;

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Able to enter and retrieve information using a computer (SAP, Excel and Access advance user)

Travel Required:

  • Periods of frequent travel

  • Support the WMP Supervisor in the implementation, management, and monitoring of Material Management Work Processes;

 Involved communication on a  regular basis with internal and external parties

 Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of office equipment.
  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
  • Space Limitations: Working in office setting on the Production floor.
