Position Summary: 

The A220 Quality Manager will lead and manage the quality operational teams to ensure a proactive culture so that customers receive the product to the highest standard of quality possible.  Responsible for the areas of the Quality function to provide support within Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that quality strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets and which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market and in a sustained manner.
  • Identify, document and standardize key processes leading to the achievement of objectives.
  • Ensure continuous improvement activities throughout the business ensuring that problems are prevented and that customer requirements are met with any problems resolved effectively.
  • Evaluate the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities.
  • Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire and motivate staff to achieve excellence and mentor them as they develop new skills.
  • Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the business to ensure that all projects are delivered on cost and on time to the highest quality standards.
  • Apply and direct the application of the Quality Management system, striving for best in class products and business practices to deliver to the customer's expectations, managing teams and projects across the business.
  • Report on Quality activities on a regular basis to the Operations Leadership team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensure quality standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: 

Education:

  • Bachelors' degree in Aerospace, engineering or manufacturing management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Experience in management of a team of supervisors in a manufacturing environment (aerospace environment is an advantage & Quality department as well).
  • Minimum 5+ years' supervisory experience in Aviation (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly Processes, Production Methods, etc.)
  • Management experience in a manufacturing or aerospace industry, ideally in quality.
  • Experience as a member and leader of an international team.
  • Work with the principles, practices, methods and tools used in aircraft manufacturing.
  • Experience working with non-conformities and design query notes.
  • Experience working with quality management systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Understanding of the principles of value-added production.
  • Have an aptitude to plan and organize to ensure the attainment of results.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in the production line.
  • Handling and use of inspection tools of the length measuring techniques (mechanical, optional, electrical).
  • Ability to work in different production management systems.
  • Entrepreneurship skills a plus.
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Specifically in English which is required operating in a multicultural and multifunctional environment.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office & SAP

Travel Required:

  • Periods of frequent travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
  • Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.
  • Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg which engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.
  • Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas and on shop floor.
  • Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at computer and in meetings.
  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
  • Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
  • Travel/Mobility: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.
  • Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions
  • Space Limitations: Able to work on jigs at fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
